WEEKEND FULL OF ACTIVITIES IN DOWNTOWN MARION: JUNE 9-11
Looking for something to do this weekend? Downtown Marion has got you covered! There are several events taking place this weekend that are sure to be a blast!
Kicking off Friday evening, The Appalachian Spirit Gallery will hold their first Artwalk, beginning at 5 PM. The event will last until 8 PM, with music starting at 6 PM. Music for the Artwalk will be provided by Stolen Apples, a relatively new group, featuring Mark Merz, Dawn Grant, and Chrystle Gates. The Lola Poston Gallery will also feature new work by Ned Johnson, which includes a series of new acrylics paintings of colorful graffiti letters and shapes. The Gallery is located at 144 West Main Street in downtown Marion.
The Spirit Railroad Museum, located underneath Appalachian Spirit Gallery, will also be open during the Artwalk, with all trains running!
Next up during our evening of fun, is the Ghost Walk in Downtown Marion! Do you believe in ghosts? Join Marion’s very own Paranormal Investigators as they share their tales of mystery and encounters of strange phenomena and local hauntings in downtown Marion. Those wanting to participate are to meet in front of The Collin’s House Inn, located at 204 West Main Street, at 7:15 PM, with the walk to begin at 7:30 PM. The cost to participate is $5, and all proceeds go to the First United Methodist Church Food Pantry.
If you are you a car-enthusiast, then you’re going to want to be on Broad Street this Friday! Marion Downtown will be hosting a free Cruise-In, with the lineup beginning at 6 PM. Welcoming all classics, customs, rods, muscle cars, and motorcycles, there is something for everyone and every interest! The Cruise-In ends at 8 PM, which will allow you time to make your way over to the Farmer’s Market Pavilion to enjoy the first concert in Marion’s Summer Concert Series!
From 8 PM – 10 PM, Acoustifried, a country rock band based out of the Tri-cities, will be performing live at the Farmers Market Pavilion in the Town Square Parking Lot, located across from the Post Office on Cherry Street. The concert is FREE to the public, with alcohol and food concessions available.
