46th Annual Hungry Mother Arts & Craft Festival

Hungry Mother State Park
Sponsored by the Art League of Marion, the Annual Hungry Mother Festival is the longest running festival in Virginia to be held in a State Park. Voted the Best Arts & Craft Show by Blue Ridge Country in 2018, this festival brings together arts and crafts vendors, entertainment, live music, food, and family fun. This event will be held rain or shine. Admission to the festival is free. Parking is $9 per day or $12 for a weekend pass.
“Phantom” Main Street Block Party

It’s a Marion tradition! “Phantom” LIVE for a Friday night street party! Bring a lawn chair and join the fun for the kickoff of “The Biggest Weekend of the Year in America’s Coolest Hometown!” Admission is FREE

If you have some stuff that you would like to sell, please join us by renting a parking space to set up in for $20. All setup proceeds will support Imagination Library of Smyth County. Each seller keeps their own profit. Spaces are limited so we highly recommend reserving a spot ahead of time. Otherwise, it will be set up on a first come, first serve basis. The sale will take place rain or shine.

The Marion Farmers Market is the place to be on Saturday mornings! Located at the corner of Chestnut and Cherry Streets across from the US Post Office. The Marion Farmers Market offers a variety of seasonal produce, locally-raised meats, farm products, and hand crafted items from across the region.
“Hungriest Mother” Food Challenge

Food, glorious food! Local eateries line up their most famous goodies and participants can choose to compete in one – or ALL – of a series of food challenges! From Dip Dogs to pickled eggs, pizza to Mountain Dew, if you’re a gastronome, THIS is YOU!

33rd Annual Downtown Marion Chili Cook-Off

Chili teams will compete on Main Street for over $500 in cash and trophies, and most importantly, bragging rights for “The Best Chili in Town.” Local judges score the concoctions based upon appearance, aroma, texture, spiciness, and overall taste. Teams are encouraged to showcase their originality too, with a trophy and cash prize for “showmanship” on the line. Winners announced at 7:30 pm. Music starts at 1:00 pm

During Marion’s Annual Chili Cook Off, take a walk down Chestnut Street and shop with all kinds of vendors without missing any of the festival fun!
Free Shuttle Service All Weekend!
Free shuttle service for all 3 days during Hungry Mother Festival hours will be provided by District Three Public Transit with free bus rides between the Farmer’s Market in downtown Marion and Hungry Mother State Park and another bus within the Hungry Mother State Park with rides between the Boat Dock/Restaurant and the parking lot at Hemlock Haven.
These free bus rides will depart each day on a schedule of every 30 minutes from the Farmer’s Market in downtown Marion beginning at 9:30 am and go directly to the Hungry Mother State Park Boat Dock/Restaurant. The last free shuttle ride of the day back to downtown Marion departing Hungry Mother State Park Boat Dock/Restaurant will be at 6:00 pm on Friday, 6:00 pm on Saturday, and 5:00 pm on Sunday.
