Innkeepers - Dave Fields and Sheila Quattrocchi

Welcome to our blog!  It’s hard to believe that it’s 2010 — and sometimes even harder to believe that, as of December 1, 2009, we celebrated our second year as Innkeepers of The Collins House Inn Bed and Breakfast.

With all the “buzz” about social networking, tweets, and above all — “BLOGGING” . . . we felt it was time to jump on the band wagon and give some of it a try. Our plan is to bring some diversity to our blog by sharing our thoughts and information on a variety of topics — mainly related to Marion, VA and surrounding area events and “must-visit” places, as well as, providing some firsthand insight into the world of innkeeping.

If you are a new visitor to our blog and/or website, you may still be wondering where in the world is Marion, Virginia? Marion is a nice, peaceful little town nestled in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains of Southwest Virginia (2009 population 6,048) — and is located just off I-81 between Abingdon and Wytheville. For those of you who may be NASCAR folks and more familiar with Bristol TN/VA . . . we’re about 40 miles north of there.

We’ve been part of this community since August of 2002. Marion has experienced its share of ups and downs, economically speaking, and has many of the characteristics of any other small town (i.e., seemingly just about everyone knowing everyone else AND everything they do), yet we’ve been pleasantly surprised at the diversity of its population.

Marion has a good many things to offer for a small town — and we hope the information we share with you will encourage you to come for a visit to witness the beauty, serenity, and pleasures for yourself.
